Edelweiss’ approach to the commodities business is comprehensive - it has been our endeavour to diversify across commodity buckets while also creating an integrated business model by intensifying our presence throughout the value chain.

Our agri distribution arm has presence across more than thirty centres in India, a commodity basket covering cash crops, guar & guar complex, oilseeds, edible nuts, pulses, spices & many others - with average annual volumes of over 6lac Mt. The ability to source through a vast network of brokers and clients at mandis, backed by a strong balance sheet that supports bulk purchases, dedicated risk management along with a top notch operations infra gives the business a competitive edge. We also aim to bridge the gap between agri production & consumption centres across the globe - our business covers procurement and distribution across Dubai, Canada and parts of the African continent with further expansion underway. This degree of reach gives Edelweiss a strong Indian footprint alongside a substantial global presence.

We have created a comprehensive setup that offers services ranging from procurement, quality assaying and certification, warehousing, collateral management, credit among other ancillaries. Our pan India warehousing network offers a higher level of service enabled by technology. We aim to be a one stop shop offering the entire gamut of services across the value chain. Our clients include the entire ecosystem – right from farmers, to service providers to processors to wholesalers. We rely on our strong pedigree and institutional leverage to streamline the commodity business. We believe we can offer a structured approach to an otherwise relatively unorganized sector, pass on greater returns to clients by eliminating the need to pass through multiple layers to complete a single transaction.

In an industry that is plagued by stale data, slow responses times, low availability of information, we aim to set benchmarks by providing transparency which will be enabled by leveraging technology. To ensure a lasting presence in the agri sphere, we are constantly working on extending our reach across the value chain—from producers to trading houses, brokers, exchanges, logistics service providers, and down to the end consumer—with an goal to pass on rich dividends to everyone involved.

In our precious metals division, we are present across 17 domestic & 2 international centres with a client base which now spans 400+ customers across jewellery houses, traders & dealers. The Edelweiss Precious Metals distribution business is empanelled with most large bullion suppliers including international banks. Our edge in this business continues to be our sourcing tie ups, door delivery to clients, extended business hours covering international markets timings and our balance sheet strength.

Our state of the art precious metals refinery spread over a 15,000 sq mt plot in Ahmedabad supplements our existing distribution business by ensuring a continuous and secured supply of gold. One of the largest of it’s kind in India, the refinery has a capacity to process upto 70mt of gold & 200mt of silver, with the best in class technology, security & avant-garde production capabilities which have received international accolades from world renown players across the spectrum – assayers, traders & miners alike. The Green Field Precious Metals Refinery is on track to set a benchmark in the Indian and global precious metals industry – the ‘Edelweiss Gold Standard’.

We have experienced professionals on board supported by a dedicated operations and risk monitoring team. We are proactively investing in technology as we believe it to be key determinant of success in both our precious metals and agri commodities businesses.
